What he did: Josh Thomas helped lead the Cedar Hill boys to a 5A team title Saturday at the 43rd Jesuit-Sheaner Relays at Jesuit's Haggar Stadium. Thomas won the 110-meter hurdles in 14.41 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 37.93. Thomas also helped Cedar Hill's 4x100 relay team win in 42.10 and was a part of Cedar Hill's 4x400 relay team that finished third in 3:19.32. Cedar Hill totaled 115.5 points to 65 for second-place DeSoto.

He said it: "Coach [Sandra] Mitchell has really pushed us this year to do our best. Only a selected few were chosen to go to this meet. We knew there would be a lot of competition here, and there was. Our state championship in football gave us something to work for. It felt good, and now we want to go to state in track and win another ring."
Did you know? Thomas finished fourth at the Class 5A state track and field meet last year in the 300 hurdles in 37.19 seconds. ... Thomas was selected as an All-District 8-5A first-team free safety last season and helped lead the Cedar Hill football team to its first Class 5A state championship. ... Thomas has signed with the University of Buffalo (New York) and will play football and run track.
